    workpackage 4.3:
DT-SOLUTIONS will take the lead in conducting the experimental research for the continued development of the test setup and accompanying algorithms. This will be the base of the validation with a relevant test setup, where an optimized lab prototype will be used to validate the concept design. DT-SOLUTIONS will also focus on concept validations and the definition of the optimal parameters.

Echo X is a patented technology to analyze and identify materials behind barriers. Utilizing high energy X-ray, it focuses on spectral differential comparison between elastic and inelastic scattering in order to provide a unique and highly accurate methodology for inspecting substances, independent of their aggregate state.

Echo X is an X-ray scattering technique that, unlike scattering techniques like XRD (elastic) or Raman (inelastic), focuses on both elastic and inelastic scattering to retrieve the unique characteristics of a material behind barriers.

On the photo a sample positioning example is shown of Ammonium Nitrate in Nalgene container.

The results of a set of (simulants of) illicit materials in a (Nalgene) container is shown in the Figure which shows that these contained materials can be clearly distinguished.

The current research in WP4.3 focuses on optimization of the algorithms to further improve the sensitivity and the performance of the measurements.
